An 8.5 yr old FS Scottish Terrier
Patient History
Presented to a referral hospital on 8/1/25 for very extensive nonpainful pendulous ventral abdominal subcutaneous mass lesion.
Diagnostics and Treatment
An abdominal ultrasound showed multiple anechoic nodular lesions in her spleen and extensive hetero-echoic subcutaneous tissue extending from xiphoid to left ischium and perineum caudally and with an amorphous intra-abdominal mass in the left caudal peritoneal cavity. US guided FNAs from SC and intra-abdominal mass was cytologically consistent with lymph. An abdominal CT scan highlighted a highly vascular mass most consistent with a neoplasm of vascular origin involving SC ventral abdominal wall with ingrowth into the caudal abdominal cavity via the left inguinal ring.
An exploratory laparotomy was done on 12/1/25 and biopsies of the subcutaneous swelling and peritoneal mass and spleen were collected for histopathology and culture. Results confirmed lymphangiosarcoma in the subcutaneous and intra-abdominal mass samples and severe chronic splenic congestion and haemorrhage with EMH from the spleen. Tissue culture showed no growth aerobically and anaerobically.
Bonnie was referred to ONE on 23/1/25 to discuss radiation therapy. A CT simulation scan was done on 30/1/25 and SRT commenced on 3/2/25 and was completed 6/2/25.
Outcome
Following SRT Bonnie developed a moderate enteritis which resolved after a few days of supportive care. A follow up CT scan was done on 1/7/25 which showed a marked reduction in the mass. A further recheck CT scan done on 13/1/26 showed an estimated 95% resolution of the mass effect. Currently Bonnie is doing very well clinically with no other concerns with last follow up at 26/3/26, approximately 14 months after completion of radiation therapy.
Stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT) 3 day course of treatment to the ventrum

SRT was prescribed to the primary and regional lymph node as a non surgical alternative.

25.5Gy in 3 fractions to the Target volume

VMAT fields are used to provide excellent treatment, preserving healthy tissue and critical surrounding structures.

Daily cone beam CT was used to verify the accuracy and precision of treatment

15 minute treatment time including daily image guided radiation therapy (IGRT)
